Today The Turrisi Bar represents one of the most "in" places in Sicily, an unmissable stop where you can taste the typical mediterranean flavours in the company of sculptures that represent fertility and virility of man. Try to imagine yourselves in an antique building of four floors, to be in a place where Etna and the sea, water and fire can be carefully observed..... this is Bar Turrisi. It is therefore one of those unique places which has been acclaimed amongst the seven most spectacular bars in the world.
The story of the phallous, or "minchia" in our sicilian dialect, are none other than a representation of the culture of the places, and never the vulgar meaning of the male's genital parts. The initial idea of the phallous most surely caused dismay to the Priest, but in all honesty, it is not a vulgar symbol at all, and it is found in greek culture, the ancient colonists on our earth. It is the Greek God Priapo which in ancient Greece represented fertility, liberty, luck, life and beauty. Today this pace brings forth what history left behind, without leaving behind today's needs.
