Modello GIULIETTA New York

La settimana scorsa, presso lo showroom Negri Firman, ho avuto l'immenso piacere di conoscere Sofia Sizzi, fashion designer di Giulietta New York. Una piacevolissima chiacchierata che mi ha permesso di "scoprire" più di lei e delle sue meravigliosi creazioni, che rappresentano un perfetto equilibrio tra sensualità moderna e austerità tradizionale.
Chiedo a Sofia, del perchè di questa sua fortissima necessità del voler "ritornare al passato". " Un viaggio creativo, una grande ricerca nello spazio temporale, passato e futuro, per poi arrivare e fermarmi a quei tanto amati anni '60. Le attrici sono state le mie muse, le mie ispirazioni. Ero incantata dal modo in cui riuscivano a portare un semplice abito, dalla loro naturale e innata classe ed eleganza, dalla loro incredibile capacità di essere donne in modo diverso, dal piacere di riscoprire la loro femminilità. La vera eleganza è nel passato. Della moda che ci viene proposta oggi, amo l'eccesso ironico e creativo di Alexander McQueen."
Ancora una domanda a Sofia a proposito della Fashion Week, le chiedo quindi se ha pensato alla possibilità di far sfilare Giulietta sulle passerelle milanesi. "Giulietta ha sempre sfilato a New York, perchè è la città in cui vivo da ormai dieci anni. Da New York ho imparato la pulizia e la semplificazione del messaggio, cose per me molto importanti. La mia nuova collezione (P-E 2013) è ispirata al 90% all'Europa, ma in particolar modo alla donna del sud Italia degli anni '60. I paesi sperduti, i paesaggi, le donne vestite di nero, m'hanno sempre trasmesso un misterioso fascino. A proposito della Fashion Week a Milano, si, penso che possa essere capita e gradita."
Davanti a me c'è una donna estremamente autentica, iper femminile, sicura di se, rigorosa e sofisticata: Sofia è senza dubbio, l'impersonificazione totale delle sue favolose creazioni.

Last week at the Negri Firman showroom, I had the immense pleasure of meeting Sofia Sizzi, fashion designer at Giulietta New York. A very enjoyable chat which allowed me to "discover" alot more about her and her marvellous creations that represent a perfect equilibrium between modern sensuality and traditional austerity.

I ask Sofia why this strong desire to "go back to the past". "A creative journey, a search in time, both past and future, to then arrive and stop at those much loved 60's. The actresses were my muses, my inspiration. I was enchanted by the way they would wear a simple dress, with such natural and innate class and elegance, from their ability to be women in such a differnet and unique way, from the way they were able to rediscover their femininity. True elegance lives in the past. From all the fashion which is given to us today, I love the excessive and creative irony of Alexander McQueen."

Another question for Sofia regarding Fashion Week. I asked her whether she had thought about allowing Giuletta to walk the catwalk at the Milanese fashion week. "Giulietta has always walked the catwalk in New York, because it's the city where I have been living now for ten years. In New York I learnt cleanliness and the simplification of the message, both which are very important to me. 90% of my new SS2013 collection has been inspired by Europe, but most particularly by the southern italian women from the 60's. The remote villages, the landscapes, the women dressed in black have always evoked in me a mysterious charm. Speaking of Milan Fashion Week, yes, I think it could happen and it would be appreciated."

Infront of me is a very genuine woman, extremely feminine, sure of herself, strict and sophistcated: Sofia is without a doubt the total personification of her fabulous creations.
